Answer your pet cremation Questions

FAQs

  • Allow other pets in your home, to smell their friend, so they can understand what has happened.

    Before you move your pet, place some plastic or a towel under the hind end of your pet, as most likely, their bowels will release.

    Position your pet, with their front and back legs tucked tight into their body, as if they were sleeping. Rigor mortis, or stiffening of the limbs will set in within the first few hours, and can make transport awkward or difficult.

  • In this instance, each pet is placed into their own individual stainless-steel cradle, along with their individually numbered stainless-steel tracking disc. The cradle consists of 4 solid walls with minor perforations on the top and bottom, which allows the gentle movement of water to flow through.

    As remains do not move from within their cradle, multiple cradles can be placed within the vessel at the same time, without any risk of comingling. The pet’s location is documented and the hydrolysed remains are removed one at a time and kept separated. Each pet’s individual hydrolysed remains are returned to the client.

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to place toys or blankets into the system. Our process uses only water and alkali and is unable to break down non-organic items. Unless otherwise advised, items will be recycled or donated to a local animal shelter.

  • Most surgical steel implants including plates, screws and wire survive the water cremation process. The metals used for orthopaedic implants are produced from non-renewable resources and have a recyclable value. Unless otherwise indicated, all remaining metal items will be recycled, with funds donated to an animal welfare organisation.

  • Water Cremation is a gentle process that mimics nature. Hydrolysed remains also require additional time to dry naturally, therefore it takes slightly longer than alternative methods. Unfortunately, we are unable to perform same day service. We aim to return your pet remains, within 5-7 working days, from collection.

  • Yes, you can be assured that the remains returned to you are guaranteed to be that of your pet.

    Unlike flame pet cremation, where cracks and crevices between bricks can be difficult to clean, our machine is made of high-quality stainless steel, which allows complete removal of remains from the cradle and the vessel, which can be sterilised after each and every use. There is also no rapidly moving air, which can result in a possible degree of transfer during the cremation process. Most importantly, 20-30% MORE of the final remains are returned due to the gentle nature of the process.

    Blue Leaf Water Cremation has also established and is committed to a Quality Management System, ensuring that;

    • Each pet is issued with its own individual stainless steel numbered ID tag, which remains with them during the whole process.

    • Use of the latest electronic tracking system, where each pet is tracked throughout every stage of the process, providing a detailed Chain of Custody report.

    • Both the ID tag and tracking system are checked and verified at every stage of the process.

    • For Individually-Partitioned water cremations, each pet is placed into their individual cradle with their stainless-steel ID tag, which remains intact during the process, emerging unblemished after the cycle is complete.

    • At the end of the process, remains can be completely and safely removed from their individual cradles, as there are no rough surfaces or hot equipment.
